After witnessing the hardships and struggles of the Chinese people in wartime, he left Shanghai for northwest China's Yan'an and devoted his life to China's revolution and the fight against leprosy. Through the memories of his son, Zhou Youma, this episode explores why, at a time of national liberation and social transformation, Hatem came to identify with the cause pursued by the Communist Party of China and ultimately chose to stand with the Chinese people.The Choice tells the stories of international friends who stood alongside the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people.
